It occurred to me at the start of the week as the wisteria started to blossom around our front door, that nature is our one constant, she never lets us down.
Mother Nature is as regular as clockwork. She comes with patterns and rituals that you can set your body clock by. At this time in April the wisteria emerges just after the bluebells, who have already spread a vibrant and seemingly never-ending carpet across forests and pathways. The tree blossom blooms around the same time, in my favourite pale pink, which is exactly the shade of our No. 38 pale link Ester & Erik candle. And a perfect way to invite the season inside.
Then arrives the beautiful peony in all of its glory. One of our favourite brands is Hester & Cook that we ship in all the way from Nashville, Tennessee. They create stunning paper placemats, table accents, and decorations to help you create the most inventive of tablescapes. I love tablescapes. This season they have created a stunning peony paper table mat that you simply tear from a pad of 25. This is complemented with the prettiest peony serving papers, which you can use as table decorations or serve food from. Although no gatherings are going on at the moment in these uncertain times, we can take inspiration for all of our future-forward celebrations and gatherings. The products look adorable styled with some fresh flowers and foliage and accented with some pretty Tea-Lights. Our French linen napkins work really well with these on a tablescape and they wash like a dream at 30 degrees, then iron or don’t iron - up to you.
I love to scent my home in line with the seasons and have recently become obsessed with “candelas”, which are a new product from a local company called Parkminster. They are tiny soy candles that will burn for at least two hours in a little pot, emitting fabulous scent. Perfect for a desk. I have been lighting these for my girls in the morning, ready for home schooling. They come in gorgeous, fresh, springtime scents such as coriander & mint, lemongrass and grapefruit and rosemary & basil. Heavenly.
In these uncertain times, I am feeling really grateful for the continuity that nature is bringing us right now.
I love her reliability, the fact she always shows up so loud and so proud and is never late to the party. Thank you Mother Nature, please keep doing you. Right now, I really need you.
Take care and stay safe,
Love Rebecca xxx
